Cleaning Aluminum

Aluminum can be found in various household items because of its many useful properties.  Most people are familiar with aluminum as it is commonly used in the making of cooking dishes and wares. But aside from cookware, there are also other things that are made of aluminum and these may include kitchen or bathroom sinks, table or counter tops, cabinets, and doors among many others.  In its natural state, aluminum objects are typically shiny and smooth but this may not be the case if we fail to clean them properly and thoroughly.  The best thing to do regarding this concern is to have aluminum wares and other items cleaned regularly.

In terms of cooking pans and wares, one may use detergent soaps and water to clean out dirt and dust.  But when there are various food items sticking to a pan for example, a scouring pad may be necessary to remove them.  Sometimes it may also be necessary to soak the stuck food items on hot water before one will be able to remove them thoroughly.  When there is discoloration on pots and pans, some people suggest mixing some lemon juice or vinegar to the water.  With brushes and cleaning pads, some dark spots on the aluminum ware may be removed.  For easier cleaning, many people also suggest to have the lemon juice or vinegar and water mixture come to a boil before trying to remove spots and stains on any aluminum ware.

As for other items like kitchen sinks, cabinets, and others one may still use regular detergent, vinegar, or bleach to be mixed with water.  Cleaning brushes and cloths are also needed to wipe away dirt, stains, and spots.  The use of the chemical borax may also be necessary especially for stubborn stains on big surfaces.  If damp cloths are not enough to get rid of dirt and stuck food items on the kitchen sink for example, one may need to use steel wool for greater friction while cleaning.
